Goals: What do you really want?

book1You have heard a lot about manifesting and wonder why you haven’t been able to make your life go in the direction you think you want. You might have, for example, tried the  quick and easy method spouted by The Secret of asking, believing and receiving, but it has gotten you nowhere. Part of the problem may be that you do not know what you want, not exactly. You might think you want certain things, but if you dig down deep inside, you may actually want something else. Another thing that may not be very effective is just focusing on vague things, such as the desire to be happy. While if you put the intention out there, you may actually achieve it one day, it is much more difficult to manifest something as illusive as happiness. First, ask yourself: what do you think will make you happy?

When I was actively practicing buddhism, we wrote a list of about five or ten items we wanted. As we sat down to chant in the morning and evening, we did so with our eyes on that list. You can do the same thing minus the chanting ritual:

1. Right now, take out a piece of paper and make a list of five things you think you want.

2. Take out the list in the morning and the evening and imagine that all of those things have already come true.

3. Think about how much you want each of the items.

4. When there comes a time when you have achieved a particular goal, replace it with another.

5. Continue with this process and you will learn much about what you want, and what you think you want. It is a good start.

Incidentally, when we chanted and were in rhythm with the universe, and believed that we could achieve these things on our lists, we often did. Sometimes, similar to how prayers are answered in unusual  ways, the manifestations  would come about in uncanny ways too. Yet, they would appear in congruence with our listed desires. This is true even though on occasion we would not get exactly what we chanted for. We did always seem to get answers that made sense.
